How do I find a team for my son/daughter?

Post on our message board your interest in finding a team for your son/daughter.  Also look on the message board for teams looking for players.  Most teams hold tryouts in January for the spring and summer season and in August for the fall season.

How to I start a select team?

To start a team you need players, a place to practice, team insurance and then you enter tournaments.

To find players you can post an ad on our message board and hold try-outs.   Once you have players you can begin entering tournaments.  Our site lists tournaments in the San Antonio area.  Many of these tournaments are sanctioned so you will need to register with the sanctioning organization.  Most teams register at the start of the season with the three main sanctioning organizations (Nations Baseball, USSSA and Super Series).  Virtually all tournaments require team insurance so you will need to purchase team insurance.

Where can I get Team Insurance?

Team Insurance can be purchased from the sanctioning bodies or from Boerne Select Baseball.  All provide basically the same coverage and cover players at practices and tournaments.  The insurance from Boerne Select Baseball is a little less expensive than the others.

Do I have to have team insurance?

Virtually all tournaments require team insurance.  Insurance also covers your players at team practices.

What is the age cut-off date tournaments?

The age of your team is determined by the age of your oldest player. The age cut off date for USSSA, Nations and Super Series tournaments is May 1.  The age a player is on April 30 of the current season year is the age the player will play at for the current season year.  The current season lasts from August 1 to July 31.

A player that turns 12 on April 15, 2014 would play 12U baseball in all tournaments from August 1, 2013 to July 31, 2014.

A player that turns 12 on May 15, 2014 would play 11U baseball in all tournaments from August 1, 2013 to July 31, 2014.

What is a sanctioned tournament?

A sanctioned tournament is one that is being played under the rules of a sanctioning body.  The three main sanctioning organizations in the San Antonio are at USSSA, Nations Baseball and Super Series.  Each of these organizations requires that teams be registered with them prior to participating in a tournament that they sanction.

What is a non-sanctioned tournament?

A non-sanctioned tournament is one that is being played only under the rules of the tournament host and registration with a sanctioning organization is not required.  You should check with the tournament host to determine age cutoff and specific rules being used.
